Stopping Key Fobs Getting Hacked

I don't understand how this works. I thought that when you put things in a faraday cage, to protect them, you had to put cardboard all around the inside, top & bottom, so that nothing touched the metal. If you do not do that, then the signals can still be compromised. Wouldn't that be the same, with this idea about wrapping your keys in foil? In the picture, part of the key fob is still uncovered. So wouldn't that mean that key could still be compromised?
