If you are camping, or if the electricity is off while you are at home, then battery operated radios and flashlights are really nice things to have.

If you purchase rechargeable batteries then you could recharge your batteries using the sun if you have a solar battery charger.  --- CONTINUED at LINK ---

I have 2 solar battery chargers, one is for AAA, AA, C and D batteries.

The other solar charger does all the above plus it will charge 4-9 volt batteries. Most and my smoke alarms take the 9 volt battery. Something to think about. I bought this charger from Harbor Freight about 3 years ago. Now this is funny.

I have 1 small charger that I also got at Harbor Freight. My only concern with it is the dreary winter days that we have. I guess I'll have to charge up all my batteries during the summer and have them ready for winter. Kind of like an electronic chopping of wood!
