Fly Fishing
How to Get Started With Fly Fishing
https://www.artofmanliness.com/articles/fly-fishing/
Fishing with a rod and line, and an artificial lightweight lure made to imitate fish prey — that is, fly fishing — was first recorded around the year 200. And while modern innovation has improved the quality and durability of the materials, the basics of the sport and pastime have remained largely the same. Attach a lure (or “fly”) to a line, cast it in the water, and see what happens. ---CONTiNUED---

How to Cast a Fly Rod
https://www.artofmanliness.com/articles/how-to-cast-a-fly-rod/
Of all the fishing techniques, fly fishing is arguably the most elegant and artful. It’s why pictures of fly fishermen end up as the subjects of oil paintings and Brad Pitt movie posters. No one is making a cinematic drama about a guy jigging for crawdads. But fly fishing isn’t just nice to watch, it’s also one of the most effective fishing techniques. It gives the experienced angler pinpoint accuracy while simultaneously presenting the inexperienced fish with a very realistic bit of bait. Those benefits do come at the price of practice, however. ---CONTiNUED---

Re: Fly Fishing
I've been fly fishing since I was about 10 YO, taught by my grandfather. I now teach two of the older grandkids, one boy and one girl, they are 12 and 14 respectively.
They do very well, although the granddaughter does a little better.
I just started them on how to tie flies and how to match the hatch to the colors of materials and thread, what size hook, shaft, etc.. Kids do learn quick when interested in something and when social media isn't available to them, 'cause I forbid them to have it when fishing or trying to teach them on fly tying.
