Winter is just around the corner and now is the time to prepare for a winter storm power outage.

Here's a video on things to, now, prepare for that winter power outage:

We got more batteries for flashlights, we already have a large stock of lamp oil for the lamps.

The camp stove and propane are set out in case we need it.

We still have 1 1/2 cords of wood left, probably will get us through February. I cooked a large pot of pinto beans on the woodstove and then froze it for future meals.

Husband filled all the 5 gallon water containers and they're in the tub and the guest bathroom. Two 3 gallon jugs are on the counter. These are for handing out if the neighbors need any. We'll use the gennie to run the well, if needed.

We did put an oil lamp in the well house for a few hours during the cold snap as it was so cold the two warming light bulbs and the space heater couldn't keep it above freezing. It dropped to -8 below. Husband kept an eye on it so we could remove it as soon as possible.

Beyond that, I think we're ready for whatever comes our way.
