Chamber adapters are also known as cartridge adapters, chamber reducers, chamber inserts, sub-gauge inserts, reducer sleeves, barrel insert bushings, and caliber conversion sleeves. ---CONTINUED---

I suspect your 1911's are originally chambered in 45 APC, but my real questions are:rick1 wrote:I have adapters (.22 cal) for my colt 1911's, they work good.
do your adapters have a sleeve through the entire length of the barrel?
how does a .22 in an adapter manage to chamber the next round?

It's more then an adapter kit, when I bought my .45 colt, 70 series, back in 1973, guess what I paid for it, $179.99, it's worth thousands now.
Any way, I purchased this kit back in the 1980's, I do not believe they make it anymore.

Makes sense now.
My experience was with the .22LR adapters for the M-16, back in the 70's.
They didn't work as well as the government thought they would, and were eventually scrapped.
(It happens, when they buy from the lowest bidder.)
