Groundhog/Woodchuck Recipe
I know that some people say yek when you ask them if the ever eaten a groundhog. Believe me, groundhog is very tasty, if cooked right and it does taste like rabbit.
Here's a good recipe from practical self reliance, along with how to properly clean a groundhog and make sure it is properly cleaned, especially removing the scent glands or else it will taste like cow dung:

P.S. I have 3 young ones in the freezer and will be deep frying them over the 4th of July down at camp, can't wait.

If you got rid of a few (dozen) around Cotter AR, you would be hailed as a hero.rick1 wrote:I know that some people say yek when you ask them if the ever eaten a groundhog. Believe me, groundhog is very tasty, if cooked right and it does taste like rabbit.

A hero, not me. Between me, my grandkids, the 2 other farms up where I live, we get hundreds of groundhogs every year, but this has been a slow year.
It's a big thing around here, sportsmen's clubs sponsor groundhog hunts for money, adults, junior hunters and mentorship hunters (under age 12). A good way to teach kids how to hunt and shoot long distances.

This area is over run with them. I see dozens (not hundreds, but that is just the local area) but I don't see anyone doing anything about them.
I put out epson salts a couple times, because the smell drives them away.
