Proper Placement of a Bedpan

Patients who cannot get out of bed to use the restroom will require a bedpan. Drugs.com states that women can use a bedpan for bowel movements and urination. Men also use bed pans to move their bowels, but many prefer a portable urinal for liquid waste. For best results and patient use, the bedpan needs to be properly placed near the bed. This ensures the patient will be able to use it comfortably without making a mess in the bed.
