Rocket Stove made with 16 Adobe Bricks
http://www.inriodulce.com/links/RocketStoves.html
Cooking your food or boiling water is for the most part one of those necessities. The most common method of cooking here is by using wood. Although there are numerous solar cookers, it is my opinion that they are just too much work and not that effecient to ever get locals to ever use them. Wood cooking is one of the primary reasons for deforestation so perhaps if we just show them more effecient ways to make their stoves, we could offset the current ways. Well there are ways to cook with wood that use 75% less than traditional ways and in half the time that also emit less smoke. In my opinion the rocket stove is the best and easiest option. So let's get to it! --- CONTINUED---
Helpful Comments from video:
== I just went and purchased 15 full size fire bricks and 1 half size. Cut one of the full size ones in half....that was a bear even with a carbide blade....assembled the thing on the back patio and fired it up. So far, two pots of coffe and a big iron skillet full of fresh caught fish. This thing is neat.
== A rocket is not necessarily better than an electric or gas stove, but for people who can't afford or who don't have access to gas or electric stoves, a clean burning rocket stove is a great way for them to cook with small quantities of wood in a stove that produces very little smoke and burns quite hot.
== you can use it indoors, but it's not recommended. Even though there is little to no smoke, a rocket stove still produces a fire which burns up the oxygen and produces poisonous CO2. Check out other rocket stove sites on the internet for designs that include chimneys to vent the combusted gasses outside.
== Rocket stoves burn wood, which is renewable but since 2.5 billion people still cook every day over wood fires, the planet is running out of trees. Rocket stoves have such efficient combustion that they use only a tiny fraction of the wood used in a normal fire to generate enough heat to cook food or boil water.

Adobe Brick Rocket Stove-How to make the Bricks
I just have a question about this ... are they firesafe? Will they pop/burst/break when heated? I've heard this can happen with some bricks.
Adobe Bricks

Home brickmakers may need to experiment to find the right balance of ingredients. ... "The consistency of the brick mixture should be halfway between pancake batter and stiff cookie dough," advises Robert Pedritti, site director at San Jose's Peralta Adobe and Fallon House. Rocket Stove
http://everythingunderthesunblog.blogspot.com/2010/03/rocket-stove.html
These are just a few of the many versions of a rocket stove and on the top left is a rocket oven. Rocket stoves, because of their design, allow you to use 75% less fuel (wood) than a normal fire and will be invaluable in your food storage. I was able to boil 2 cups of water for 20 minutes using just a handful of small sticks and a match. Rocket stoves come in all sizes but the idea is the same. You can buy them or make your own. Making your own will cost under $20. A version of the one pictured on the right can be made for almost nothing. (Notice the large flame being created with just a few sticks.)

How to Make a Simple Paint Can Rocket Stove
https://www.rootsimple.com/2016/02/how-to-make-a-simple-paint-can-rocket-stove/
Rocket stoves cook food with small pieces of wood efficiently and with much less smoke than conventional wood burning stoves. They also help prevent deforestation since you can burn small twigs trimmed off a tree rather than burning logs. Search the interwebs and you’ll find may different designs. But they are all based on burning wood in an “L” shaped tube to create a chimney effect. Insulating the tube increases efficiency. ---CONTINUED---

Re: Rocket Stove-DIY
Here's how to build a cinder block rocket stove, 4 cinder blocks for a single burner, add 2 half cinder blocks, move 1 cinder block to another location and you have a 2 burner cinder block rocket stove.
There are other videos on how to build many other styles of rock stoves:

A Rocket Stove Made From a Five Gallon Metal Bucket

How To Make A Rocket Stove From A BBQ Charcoal Chimney Starter
https://www.backdoorsurvival.com/rocket-stove-starter/
Matt has some brilliant ideas and this one definitely qualifies. We were perusing the aisles on our big monthly grocery store shopping extravaganza when he saw a BBQ Charcoal starter and got the idea that it could be made into an inexpensive rocket stove with just a few modifications.
Ours is painted black and just what was available at our local Ingles. You can get this style of charcoal starter in unpainted aluminum or aluminized steel for a decent price. I will provide some links later on in the post. Most are in the $14-$25 range online. ---CONTINUED---

Re: Rocket Stove-DIY
Here's a video on how to make a rocket stove from a flue pipe. In this video, the guy uses a 8.5"X8.5" flue pipe, fire brick and a feeder ramp for the wood.
I built these for each of the grandkids, but I used a 8.5"X12" flue pipe and regular bricks you case a house with and I didn't make a wood ramp (a waste of time and money). He also put a cement slab to support the flue pipe, I didn't, I just set the rocket stove on some bricks.
All you need for the top is a grill plate to set your food or pans on.
Here's his video, it's 18 minutes long, but you can skip parts of it to get to the nitty gritty of the built:

A rocket stove achieves efficient combustion of the fuel at a high temperature by ensuring a good air draft into the fire, controlled use of fuel, complete combustion of volatiles, and efficient use of the resultant heat.
