Diethyl Ether
Question to the members.
Does anyone have any diethyl ether on hand for emergency use. You can buy it on amazon, but have to give a reason for its use.
In a long term grid down situation and if I had gangrene, I absolutely would want something to put me under in order for some brave person to cut off my limb.
I have a lot of engine starter containing diethyl ether for my diesel engines that are hard to start in the winter, just saying.

Re: Diethyl Ether
I've read that ether is tricky to work with...
We do not stock anything other than battle bandages for dire situations.
We do have plenty of meds for our fish, though.

Re: Diethyl Ether
ether isn't for the novice, but if you have someone in your group that worked in surgery or anesthesiology, your patient might survive
One thing to note, a vasoconstricter needs to be used in conjunction with ether, it makes the use of ether less "tricky" and less likely the patient will bleed out.
I don't have either of the above, but I have about a half gallon of bourbon. I think, if I had gangrene, I might use the S&W method (dark humor) to cure it.
Keep those fish meds stocked, whether you have koi or cat fish, keeping them healthy is a must.

I have smaller medicinal bottles of Jack Daniels in all the first aid kits, the bathroom cabinets, and elsewhere.
The large bottles are in the wine cabinet, of course.
My fish are like, really healthy. LOL

What I actually have is two fifths of Jim Beam, just because it was the cheapest thing that I know is good (as antiseptic, not for taste). I don't drink any more. Nothing against it, cut I have narcolepsy and alcohol makes me feel like h--- the next day.
If we want to talk much more about alcohol, we might need to start a different thread on it
