Re: SINGAPORE-CoVid19 Case Counts & News
If we assume this is the breakout we have been anticipating (probable, but not certain), we can work backwards to a convenient zero day of 27 Jan, and assume one case for that day.ReadyMom wrote:SINGAPORE

The math works out to 8 cases on the 8th, and 32 on the 16th.
If all quarantine measures fail, as they initially seemed to in China (I will revisit that later this morning, with some "almost good" news), then this works out to 256 cases on the 1st of March. The geometric growth rate continues until something slows it. That slowing could be quarantine, social distancing, or a vaccine. Or when it runs out of infectable hosts (we still don't know if everyone is vulnerable, or only a certain segment of the population, since that angle has not been studied).
Time will tell.

Coronavirus: 81% afraid of infection, but 35% would still attend events even with mild symptoms: ST poll

snip...
SINGAPORE - Despite 81 per cent of Singaporean residents fearing coronavirus infection, nearly 35 per cent said they would continue to attend an important event even if they had developed mild symptoms earlier that day. /snip
This made my heart sink.
Of any people that can be counted on the "play by the rules' it's the people of Singapore. Heck, I'd behave them too if I lived there! BUT 35% would still attend an "important" even even if were developing symptoms... we don't stand a chance. Not a chance.

Agreed. If residents of Singapore (with their experience & now-knowldege) would do this .... imagine the American response. "not a chance" ... 100% agree!SoZo wrote:[
