Here's a receipt for cornbread using dent corn (field corn). My wife has used this receipt and it's not too bad and field corn can be found just about anywhere, except in the city:

Here at home, field (dent) corn sells for $8.00 for a 70 lb bag, the corn is already shelled, pretty cheap.

Clean oats sell for $10.00 for 2 bushel bags.

I shell my own corn each year, (2 bushels) and place in 2-5 gallon buckets and replace every year for emergencies that may come down the road. I also buy 2 bushel bags of the clean oats, I just hang them in the garage and replace them each year. The old stuff gets feed to the cows and chickens.

For $18.00/$20.00 a year you think people would stock up on these items that can be ground and made into different types of food in emergency situations.
