Washing Cloths Off Grid

Here's a good article on how to wash and dry clothes off grid. I have a couple of the hand plungers, wash boards and a wringer washer that is converted from electricity to using a hand crank.

I need to invest in the plunger. Back when I was a kid, our well pipes dropped down the hole and it was so deep, we had to wait a while to get a rig from another state to come in and pull the pipes. My sister and I were teens and did all our washing by hand in the double sink. We'd swish the clothes, took care of stains, and then rinsed and wrung out together - her twisting one way, me the other. It was hot, tedious, and hard.

I would think the plunger would make it easier. I have a mop bucket with a wringer on it to hand crank for that. And of course, we can hang everything on the line.

I already had a stash of clothes pins for hanging outside. I used to do it regularly, when we lived in our first house. I was going to get more. Then, when I was cleaning out my dad's house to move him into an apartment ... I found a bag of all my mom's clothes pins. I grew up with those pins! They came home with me. They must be at least 50 or so years old!
