I thought I would create a catch all for this topic.
Some of the news will be hype, and some of it will be real.
We will have to figure out, which is which.

Here is as good a place as any, to start:
https://www.americanbanker.com/payments/list/cbdc-projects-pick-up-the-pace-as-2023-kicks-off
Progress on central bank digital currencies has been relatively slow. But a flurry of tests near the end of the year suggest CBDC initiatives are improving their pace, as central banks try to determine the impact on traditional banking and payment systems.
Even as debatein the U.S. rages over the utility of a digital dollar, work continues on the nuts and bolts of a potential American CBDC.
Actually, it appears, they are working on more than one project. One will be for trade from world bank to world bank, the other for more "local" use.
Wholesale CBDCs are designed for large parties to move substantial amounts of money, and are considered likely to be implemented faster than retail CBDCs, which are designed for consumer use.

In a second project, the New York Fed is participating in a proof-of-concept test that will determine the feasibility of digital currencies operating in a network of financial institutions.

There is a map, on this web page, that shows how far along, various countries are, in adopting Central Bank Digital Currencies.

https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/cbdctracker/

It also shows various bits of news an info about the various issues, but it seems to be a bit slow.
(Most of the articles are from 2021 and 2022. )
