The 5 Seeds That You Need to Stockpile in Your Pantry
http://www.askaprepper.com/the-5-seeds-that-you-need-to-stockpile-in-your-pantry/
The best seeds for you to store are those that are most suitable for the particular environment you find yourself in. And of course environments vary widely across the USA, from wet and warm, to cold and very dry. You should do some research for your particular area and work out what fits with your local weather systems. One of the best ways to do this is to observe what grows best around you and use that.
This article will give you some general advice on the types of seeds that you should think about storing, these are generalist plants but will develop a baseline for you to work from. ---CONTINUED---

Survival Food Series: 25 Survival Seeds You Need For Your Garden
http://readynutrition.com/resources/survival-gardens-25-seeds-you-need_05112009/
Living off the land sounds as inviting as Christmas dinner. But many have hardly had adequate experience being “farmers.” In fact, many have had no experience at all when it comes to planting anything. That being said, the day is slowly approaching where each of us may have to trade in our company identification badges for a shovel and a pair of overalls. Educating yourself on farming topics such as micro-farming, planting for the seasons, natural insect repellents, seed collection and seed storage could help prepare for an upcoming economic crisis. Learn about how many vegetables or fruits the plant will yield. It is truly an experience when it comes to the first garden. And the plants have many things to teach. --- Continued at link, above ----

5 Reasons Why There is Security in Seeds
http://readynutrition.com/resources/5-reasons-why-there-is-security-in-seeds_23042010/
It's ironic that a minuscule seed holds the power of life or death for humans. Multiple disaster organizations, as well as government web sites, recommend that a person have food stored for emergency shortages. Although a food crisis seems unlikely, there is a possibility that it could occur. While canned goods can sustain a family for a short while, seeds are required for producing food for a longer-term crisis. Storing seeds will ensure that in a long-term disaster, you will be able to provide essential vitamins and nutrients that will be needed for more physical exertion and mental clarity.
Non-genetically modified (GMO) seeds and heirloom seed varieties are preferred for long-term survival because they produce fertile seeds that can be saved for subsequent growing seasons.
Think of seeds as a necessary security investment for your future. . . . . ---CONTINUED---

This is nothing new, other than folks are paying more attention to it because of the Amazon brushing scam that made the national news.
There have always been import limits on plants and plant products, just a lot of folks ignored it and most got away with it.
A few sites talking about the restrictions:
