Here's what I do to get big tomatoes:
I've grown tomatoes well over 2 pounds each and a few as high as 4 lb 12 oz. I keep them well watered, full sun, plant in mushroom manure, trim all suckers, tie them every 6 inches, water with cow manure once a week. My plants grow as high as 7+ feet, I then cut the tops off.
