10 Commandments of Survival You Need to Know About
https://www.backdoorsurvival.com/10-commandments-of-survival-you-need-to-know-about/

Things to Think About, When Prepping The-10-Commandments-of-Survival   (SNIP) ... Getting up each day, going to work, doing chores, balancing the checkbook, taking care of family members – it’s all a big job.  Add prepping and learning new survival skills to the mix and you have a recipe for exhaustion – and perhaps even a bit of depression and gloom.

To help overcome my own dizzying sense of having too much to do and too much to prepare for, I sat down a couple of years ago and attempted to put my own rules for survival into words. I called these words the “10 commandments of survival”. ---CONTINUED---

Building Redundancies Into Your Preps
https://tracemypreps.wordpress.com/2011/12/05/repetitive-redundant-repetitive-redundant/

Things to Think About, When Prepping 10   In the military we were taught, “Two is one, one is none.” It was stressed that if you only have one of something important you can’t depend on it; it will eventually break, fail, be lost, or stolen. We can’t even imagine all the ways something can break or fail. And, according to the infamous Murphy, that failure will happen at the worst possible time. Everything works before it breaks.

Does this mean we need to have two, or more, of everything?    ---CONTINUED---

Dirty Little Prepping Secrets The Crap You Don’t Hear About
https://www.askaprepper.com/dirty-little-prepping-secrets-the-crap-you-dont-hear-about/

Things to Think About, When Prepping Dirty-Little-Prepping-Secrets-The-Crap-You-Don%E2%80%99t-Hear-About-6-890x395_c   I love prepping. I love being self-sufficient enough to produce most of what I need on a daily basis, and to know I can carry that on if there’s a crisis that disrupts food supplies.

(SNIP) ...

Let’s not pretend that everything in the prepping garden is rosy, though. Yes, it’s satisfying – but it can also be frustrating, expensive and hard work.   ---CONTINUED---

Mental and Physical Preparation For SHTF & Long Emergencies
https://www.backdoorsurvival.com/mental-and-physical-preparation-for-shtf-long-emergencies/

While being able to meet basic food, water, medical, and shelter needs provides peace of mind, attention should be paid to other areas too.

No matter how well you prepare, an SHTF or long term emergency is going to be hard if it goes on for very long.

I am writing this article in the hopes that it will help you discover the strengths and weaknesses that could be beneficial or a problem during a crisis. Accepting that you or someone in your group has areas they need to work on during good times means you can take steps to be a better person for yourself and everyone during SHTF.   ---CONTINUED---

Are you really prepared for an emergency? The 5-5-5 bug out test
https://graywolfsurvival.com/3290/really-prepared-emergency-5-5-5-bug-test/

Things to Think About, When Prepping 5-5-5 Is your family really prepared for an unexpected emergency? If something happened tonight, would you be ready?

A lot of preppers spend an awful lot of time doing things like stocking up food, storing and inventorying supplies, learning first aid and so on. Those are all good things to do – and I encourage that – but if something happened at 2am tomorrow, are you really ready? ---CONTINUED---

Family Survival Training: A Step by Step Guide
https://rethinksurvival.com/family-survival-training-a-step-by-step-guide/

Things to Think About, When Prepping Family-survival-guide For many people, family is their number one priority. As parents, we go to work in order to provide food and shelter for our children, we try and provide the best education, and give them what we lacked during our own childhood.

However, many people forget to teach their children how to respond to an emergency. Even as parents we may need to reevaluate which areas in our home are the safest and which are the most dangerous during a crisis. ---CONTINUED---

Prep to Live, Not Just Survive
https://www.backdoorsurvival.com/prep-to-live-not-just-survive/

Things to Think About, When Prepping Bds-prep (SNIP) ... Survival does not have to mean controlled privation. When you are prepping for disaster, your goal is to survive, but survival means more than just the bare minimum.

(SNIP) ... an emergency is no place for substandard survival supplies. If you wouldn’t rely on something under normal circumstances, why should you trust it under abnormal circumstances? ---CONTINUED---

https://survivalistprepper.net/post-collapse-skills-bring-table/

Things to Think About, When Prepping Hnads   In the event of an economic collapse or any event that causes us to be off the grid for an extended period of time, we will have to go back to our roots, I don’t mean back when we were younger, I mean back to our grandfathers roots. Inthe worst case scenario we will need to rebuild society from the ground up. As it has always been throughout history we will need different individuals with many different skill sets to create a functioning and thriving society. My wife and I go to auctions a lot and I always try and look for old tools and things that can use without electricity. I have learned that just because you have the tools doesn't mean that you know how to use them. There is a very big learning curve on knowing how to sharpen a saw or use a wood plane , make an ax handle. I still haven't learn the fine art of using a treadle sewing mach it seem I have no rhythm lol

How Familiar Are You REALLY with Your Survival Equipment?
https://www.theorganicprepper.com/survival-equipment/

Things to Think About, When Prepping HowFamiliarMAIN (BIG Snip) ... even knowledgeable people tend to forget the basics at times. Ensure you are familiar and comfortable with your essential equipment, especially the everyday items you carry on you at all times. Familiarize yourself with your gear and equipment in layers. With each layer, ask yourself if something is working for you. Also, think about alternatives and replacements or modifications. All those things are available. ---CONTINUED---

I have a treadle and haven't even looked at it. I really need to take it to the sewing machine repairman and let him get it in working order (It may already be, I just don't know).

I also collect hand kitchen appliances - living around the Amish and Mennonites, they appear in yard sales and auctions a lot. I have a crank food processor, slicers, choppers, juicers, and other stuff I can't remember. I keep it all on a shelf in the LTS so if I need it, I know where it is.
