Paracord is a strong nylon rope that is a useful item to keep on hand (especially in your grab & go bins and bags!) It can be used whole, or separated into small thin pieces (shown in picture) or woven into a bracelet to have handy all the time. Here's more info:

Parachute cord

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parachute_cord

Parachute cord (also paracord or 550 cord when referring to type-III paracord) is a lightweight nylon kernmantle rope originally used in the suspension lines of parachutes. This cord is useful for many other tasks and is now used as a general purpose utility cord by both military personnel and civilians. This versatile cord was even used by astronauts during the 82nd Space Shuttle mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope.[1]

The braided sheath has a high number of interwoven strands for its size, giving it a relatively smooth texture. The all-nylon construction makes paracord fairly elastic.

Current technical standards for the manufacture of cord for use in parachutes are published by the Parachute Industry Association. The US military MIL-C-5040H standard required the material to be nylon.[2] Similar styles of cord are manufactured with other materials such as polyester ---CONTINUED at LINK---

Make A DIY Paracord Watch Strap
https://knowledgeweighsnothing.com/wp-content/uploads/wp-post-to-pdf-enhanced-cache/1/make-a-diy-paracord-watch-strap.pdf

Paracord-Parachute Cord 45453   I have done several posts about the uses of paracord and paracord bracelets, such as the review of the excellent: ‘Wazoo Survival Gear’ Minimalist Survival Bracelet. You can of course make your own paracord bracelet but if you are not into wearing an additional bracelet, how about making a paracord watch strap instead? If you are anything like me, you’re saying – why didn’t I think of that… A paracord watch strap, it is so obvious.

Anyway if you think it’s a good idea and you’d like to give it a go, head over to the Instructables website below and check out the detailed tutorial.

If you are going to bother making one, make sure you make it with official 550 paracord, as used in the military. Don’t use the cheaper stuff, get something you can rely on. ---CONTINUED---

Survival fishing: How to make a trotline from paracord
http://prepforshtf.com/survival-fishing-trotline-paracord/#.U1FQdBbWFHh

Paracord-Parachute Cord Paracord_Trotline   A trotline is nothing more than a fishing line with baited hooks attached to it at intervals by means of branch/drop lines. The branch line is a short length of line which is attached to the main line using a swivel, with a hook at the other end. A trotline can be set so it covers the width of a river or stream and can be left unattended. During a survival situation prioritizing your activities will be critical, so If you can place a trotline or make a fish trap you could be catching food while you’re doing other chores. Trotlines are illegal in many states, so make sure you check your local fish and game regulations where you live.    ---CONTINUED---

Paracord-Parachute Cord Xparacord-bracelet-header-800x267.jpg.pagespeed.ic.yDrYDsk9Ma   Paracord bracelets are a neat bit of gear. If you're an outdoors type of person, or you want to make a gift for an outdoors type of person, then this is the project for you.

Each bracelet is in effect a miniature survival kit, holding 10 feet of 550 paracord. Use it to construct an emergency shelter, or repair your rucksack with the yarns in the central core.

The bracelet is comfortable to wear and has a neat two-tone effect. You could even make one using the colors of your favorite sports team. --- Instructions at link, above ---

Making a paracord bracelet with a side release buckle
http://stormdranespbtutorial.blogspot.com/

Paracord-Parachute Cord Pb14   I occasionally get asked how to attach a buckle when making a paracord bracelet. There are a few tutorials on making the bracelets online to learn from, but they don't show how to make one using a side-release buckle. I think the photos I've taken will be self explanatory. There are various sources for the buckles, like your local hobby/craft stores or online like ebay. There come in various shapes, sizes, and materials. --- continued at link above ---

How to Make a Paracord Lanyard with Step-by-Step Instructions
https://www.theorganicprepper.com/paracord-lanyard-step-by-step/

Paracord-Parachute Cord ParacordlanyardMAIN Paracord can be used to create a ton of different projects and functional accessories. A paracord bracelet is one of the easiest and quickest projects to make, but depending on the design you use, it doesn’t always provide a whole lot of cordage. I want to share with you a functional project that I enjoy making that will provide more cordage than a simple bracelet does: the paracord lanyard.

The lanyard I will be making is not the kind that office workers wear to display their employment badges. It’s more of a lanyard that a hunter uses to hold duck calls or other types of wild game calls. I like this type of lanyard because you can hang almost anything from it that you want quick access to. ---CONTINUED---

Brings back memories as a kid. Used to make these out of heavy, thick string and use a leather shoe tongue or heal to place in the middle, had to cut string in half, one for each side. Tie one piece of string to each side of the tongue or heal, to hold the rocks or marbles, and start swing over your head and let it rip.
