Pennsylvania Weather
Rain, rain and more rain. PA has had more than its share of rain this past 2018.
I've had a weather station for many years and keep a daily record from high/low temperatures, dew points, barometric pressures, rainfall, wind, wind gusts, etc..
Well our local TV station this morning said it has had the most precipitation since records have been kept for this area.
They reported a total of 71.83 inches of rain this year and the normal for the year is 51.10 inches. Man that's a lot of rain. I had about the same total precipitation (68.90 inches).
Now, I hope we get a ton of snow, like we did back in the '60, can't wait.

Re: Pennsylvania Weather
We've got a leak in a window that was never there before and we've had to toss some hay at the bottom of our deck stairs, because we're down to very think grass due to our very soggy summer and 2 dogs! Hay is helping keep mud out of our kitchen, as the dogs come back into the house.
We have wetlands, behind our house and there are puddles everywhere. Wetlands actually run through our property, so some serious grading had to be done, when we moved in. That and very good waterproofing for our basement foundation. So far ... so good!

-15 below at 6 a.m. this morning, we've been under a windchill warning for two days now, no school for two days.
No eggs from the chickens for two days and even the cows are asking for long johns.
Throw another log on the fire!

I'm not leaving this house till April, for our daughter's wedding shower. Maybe it'll get warm by then. I'm rethinking my dress for her outdoor wedding, in early May. We'll probably still be wearing COATS!

Re: Pennsylvania Weather
We got about 2 or 3 inches of snow overnight and another 4 to 6 inches expected. After midnight, it's going to start freezing rain throughout most of tomorrow. They're calling for 1/4 to 1/2 inch of freezing rain with widespread power outages. We're currently under a winter storm warning.
Can't wait, bring it on

That's a good one RM.
High winds, freezing rain from last night and it's still raining that freezing stuff.
We lost power late last evening and got it back about 1 p.m. today. Of course I had the battery banks on standby and ran the small generator every couple of hours for the refrigerator. Didn't even miss the power outage.
I loaned my other small generator to the neighboring farm for them to run their circulating pumps on their coal boiler. They have one but couldn't get it to run steady, bad plug and I didn't have one that size and they didn't have a spare either.
Just throw another log on the fire.

Re: Pennsylvania Weather
Well, we had freezing rain Sunday night into Monday morning and then snow, no power outages.
Now they're calling for a quarter inch of freezing rain starting tomorrow morning and then 3 to 6 inches of snow on top of that. I love winter and the snow but don't like that freezing rain. I'm pretty sure we'll be losing power tomorrow. I'm ready, bring it on.
ReadyMom, they're calling for up to 9 inches of snow for you guys, get out your snow blower.
Throw another log on the fire.

Well, now their calling for high wind warning in our area, along with possible tornados, never seen a tornado in my immediate area.
They'rr calling for down trees, widespread power outages, gusts up to 60 mph, etc..
How about you ReadyMom, looks pretty close to the same thing for your area.
I say, bring it on, I'm ready, I think.

Re: Pennsylvania Weather
Well, I've been off my feet for the past 3 days. Got a virus that totally kicked me off my feet! Of course our son, came home for those 3 days, before leaving for his next soccer season! First morning, sick, I woke up to the snow falling, with ice later in the day. Only saw it from the sofa. Pretty much only saw anything from the sofa or a chair, through the windows till today. Wasn't even following weather on the news. Saw, yesterday that we're expecting VERY high winds.
High winds scare me. We have a woods behind our house that are in wetlands. So, the trees ROCK in the wind ... and they often fall down. There are a couple that we keep our eye on. One, in particular belongs to our neighbor. Was supposed to come down, last summer, but it's still there. It has a good chance of hitting part of our house. I have a HUGE tarp, so I guess you could say we're ready!

Man, the weather everywhere is going haywire.
Here in PA, within 30 miles of where I live, there were 2 tornadoes in Indiana County (Blacklick) and one in Cambria County (Johnstown).
Tornadoes in my area are few and far between, but not recently. I'm sick and tired of all this rain, a repeat of last year.
Bring on the SNOW!!!!!

According to our local weather channel (Altoona), last year was the wettest year on record. From January 1st to today (June 20, 2019) we have received one inch more of rain compared to last year.
And they're calling for another inch of rain today.
Bring on the snow.
Ok ReadyMom, what's the story down where you are?

But (except for the tornadoes) we've been getting this warning since Monday and all we've gotten is a splatter of rain every day. Today, there was a 5 min. downpour. Crazy weather. Once again, I'm NOT getting my summer that I wait all winter for

Nasty weather the last 24 hours, went from 60 degrees to 30 degrees. Wind gusts up to 53 mph, oh, and snow. That's right ReadyMom snow, it was enough to lay on the grass but not on the roads or sidewalks. , This is my snow emoticon

Re: Pennsylvania Weather
Yesterday, we lost power at around 2:00 a.m., didn't get it back on 'til last evening around 7:30 p.m..
The weather was terrible, I've lived in this area since I was born, excluding my 6 year stent in the Marine Corps and I've never seen the wind blow like it did.
Here's a video of a tree falling on a house in Chester county, PA.. It takes minute or so for the video to start:

Re: Pennsylvania Weather
We had a wet, wet, wet day, yesterday. Winds weren't as bad as we expected. That's a good thing, since we live on 'wetlands' and the woods behind us can get real sketchy, as the trees sway in the wet ground with wind! We've heard them fall, in the past. Just lucky none, on the edge of the woods have tumbled towards our house... yet. I've got a HUGE tarp for 'just in case though!
Our neighbor never graded for the wetlands and has fishing puddles in the back. We're good, since we graded appropriately, years ago.
I can't wait for a 'real' spring to get started. Craving sun & warmth now!

Crazy PA weather. Last Monday it was sleeting and snowing, roads were like a sheet of ice and PennDot was MIA, our tax dollars at work.
Since then, it has been in the mid 60's and the last two days it has been in the lower 70's.
Let it snow, let it snow.
ReadyMom just loves the cold and snow

They're calling for 5 to 10 inches where I'm at, but that could change depending how far inland it comes.

I went down to the store to pick up a prescription for the wife, the gas stations are being over run and the stores, well, the people are in panic mode. It just puts smile on my face.

Getting ready for the ice storm that will hit us tomorrow, they're calling for .25 to .50 inches of ice. For me that means a 90% chance of a power outage.
Extra firewood on the back porch, kerosene lamps full, generators ready to roll, etc.. Will probably end up with 3 of the grandkids too.
How about you ReadyMom, looks like you guys are going to get hit too.

We're going to get the winds that the tornados caused so much damage down south. They're calling for up to 65 mph gusts here with wide spread power outages.
Going over to pickup 3 of the grandkids to stay with us, both their mom and dad are working today, so at least they'll have power here.
We're ready, all solar generators are fully charged and generators were started a couple days ago and filled up with gas.
Batten down the hatches, general quarters will be sounded around noon.

You're lucky RM, we're still without power, day 2 starting. They said last, I heard we were to have power by noon today, well, it's past noon and still 4,600+ without power here in Cambria County.
I am glad it's sunny out so my solar can recharge my batteries.
