National Dish Soap SHORTAGE?!

Anyone else hear anything about this? I DO have this in storage already.

I told my wife about the dish soap shortage.

She made a beeline to the basement, came back up and said "we have some to sell", we got at least two years worth.

... I'll have to check my excel sheet to see exactly how much I've got, but I did take a quick look at the grocery store shelf and didn't notice any shortages yet.

I also paid attention to pork and that looks good, too.

You should see what she has stocked on laundry detergent, shampoo and hand soap. By just looking what she has, there's got to be enough for 2, maybe 3 years.

i might be close to that, as well. I don't know why but my focus was on keeping clean! Hubby has OCD and is a nut about showers, so I know in a SHTF case, if hubby is happy I can be happy. He'd be miserable if his personal hygiene was compromised! The rest, we'll work out as best as we can .

I just got back from one of the local WalMarts (this is WalMart country, one in every town). There was a sign warning of the shortage, and about half of the dish soap out on the shelves was gone.

I will go to the local wal-mart in the morning... We stopped at the local grocery and picked up 3 large bottles.. My wife was just cute she immediately went on pinterest and looked up homemade dish soap recipes....

I got one bottle, because, as rick1 (channeling oldasrocks) said, "what year," and I only have a few months supply. No, I don't trust them, even though they have been right, before. That said, I think the signs may be part of what is clearing the shelf. Everyone buying one or two, just in case.

(As a side note, I have seen two pharmaceutical shortages, and they were bad.)

While dishwasher stuff isn't directly affected (made differently, in a different factory), the "just in case" effect I noted above may temporarily clear some shelves.

I also bought an extra bottle of simple green, since it can be used for dish soap, and it was already on my list of things to buy.

Tuesday morning, I checked another of the local WalMarts (as I said, one in every town). At first glance it looked like there was only one small hole in the shelves, but when I looked at all the other brands they were mostly about two bottles deep on each "front."

I keep it well stocked because DAWN, especially, is good for washing flea/tick riddled animals when necessary. It's also an excellent degreaser for things besides dishes. We probably have enough for 2-3 years, too.

It irritates me that they no longer sell the concentrated Dawn.

There is s store in town that sells bulk items and I was lucky enough to buy a 5 gal bucket of dish and laundry detergent... I guess i need to go get a couple of more..

I will try and check our Wal-Mart this week

I think they simply changed the name of concentrated Dawn to Ultra Dawn.

I did a quick calculation a few years ago and decided that was the best buy on the shelf an have bought that ever since.

 Same here. Been buying Dawn the most, as well.

edited to add: I haven't been shopping, lately. Probably will 'run to the store' tomorrow. I'll give a look-see to find out what's happening around here, since the original post.

No signs at our store, but I bought 2 large bottles of Ultra Dawn anyway.

There were no signs at our store but the shelves were a little thin at the local China-Mart (wal-mart)...

We try and buy it by the 5 gal bucket it seems to last forever and the wife can experiment making different types of cleaners with it...
