Brasilia, Mar 4 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Health confirmed today the third case of the new Covid-19 coronavirus in Brazil, in a patient living in Sao Paulo, a state where the other two proven infections also reside.

Together with the state and municipal secretariats of the territorial division, the portfolio indicates in a note that the case is imported, that is, that it came from outside Brazil.

In addition, another possible confirmed infection of Covid-19 is investigated in the capital of São Paulo, where counter-tests are carried out to ratify the sample of the possible case. In Sao Paulo, the Adolfo Lutz Institute is responsible for counter-evidence tests.

The latest balance published on Tuesday by the Regional Ministry of Health indicated 130 suspected cases of the disease in Sao Paulo and two confirmations, both of patients with a history of travel to Italy.

Even with the second confirmation, there was no change in the national situation, because there is no evidence of sustained circulation of the virus in the Brazilian territory.

According to the methodology of the State Department of Health, for a case to be considered suspicious, it is necessary that the patient has presented, in addition to the symptoms, travel history or contact with a suspect.

On Saturday, the health cabinet in Sao Paulo and the Ministry of Health confirmed the second case of coronavirus, in a 32-year-old man who arrived from Milan, Italy, on February 27.

A first case was confirmed the day before, in a businessman who also lives in Sao Paulo and is 61 years old. He returned from Turin, in northern Italy, on February 21.

The coordinator of the Emergency Operations Committee of the Secretary of Health of the state, Paulo Menezes, informed that the patients remain in home quarantine.

"The two confirmed are progressing well clinically, but they still have some symptoms that keep them isolated at home," he said.
