Hong Kong reports COVID-19 in domestic cat, 3rd positive animal

Hong Kong’s Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department reported this week the first COVID-19 positive case in a domestic cat.
The case involves a domestic short-haired cat that lived in a residence in Aberdeen.
When the owner was confirmed with COVID-19, the cat was sent for quarantine at the animal keeping facility at the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on March 30. ---CONTINUED---

The report about the cat made me wonder about the dog that first got infected. I found this: (From March 17th). I noticed the dog was 17 years old!!

CDC recommends social distancing with pets as more become infected with the coronavirus. If an animal can get coronavirus, why do they say they can't transmit it. I'm not a smart man, only went to the 5th grade , but it just doesn't make sense to me:
