I did a quick look but didn't see anything?

Wondering if we should set up a 'channel' over on Signal to use JUST for EMERGENCY, if nothing else works and we want to keep in touch. Thoughts? (I know some of us have exchanged phone #'s already).

Signal might be a good idea, for those with "smart" phones, but I think I will opt out of this one. A few people on here have an email address for me.

We do, already, have a place to meetup on Gab, for those who have signed up (PS: it works a lot better than it did 14 months ago).

Now, the question is: in case of what?
What sort of emergency?

If this forum gets disrupted, either at the forum level or the systems it runs on, reverting to Gab might be our best bet.

If you are talking about "spreading the word" more rapidly in case of emergency, I don't have signal but might provide a number for text messaging, to a couple people on here. (I don't answer voice calls, unless they are in my contacts list and the name comes up.)

What is the GAB handle?

Also - if you have CB radios - the skoolie/RV/nomad groups are unofficially using Channel 11.

As you my already know, I recommend getting an email address other than your normal one, just to handle forum and blog related information.  ReadyMom coined the term "Ghost Mail" account, and I thing that is a good name. It is discussed here:

I don't know if I mentioned it before, but the reason for the Ghost Mail account is to maintain the same level of pseudonymous privacy that we have here on the forum.

I went with a mail.com account because they don't ask too many questions. Unfortunately, their servers are in Germany, and that may pose a problem if transatlantic cables get cut. I need to look for another one.

I tried to join the GAB group - it came up and had a REQUEST to join so I clicked it. Nothing has happened for two days. Still not in the group.

ReadyMom has it set up for join by request. She has to log on and OK the request, when she gets some "spare time."

14 or so months ago, when they were experiencing growing pains (they quadrupled in size) the software would, quite often just say something wasn't there, if it didn't find the item in a certain number of seconds.

Every time the system got overloaded it would give errors like "group doesn't exist, or "no members in that group." This was probably a strategy to keep the system safe if someone bombarded it with requests, in hopes of overloading it to get it to let them in. Default is lock out, rather than let in.

As of today, I'm now on over at Trump's platform "Truth Social". I can only get access on my Iphone. It's the only place it is running, right now. Still not thrilled with GAB.

I plan to, eventually check out Truth Social, but I have a few more "features" to explore on Gab, first. I only spend about 10 min a week, over there, so it will take me a while.

On the average, it seems to take about a year to "roll out" a social media platform, and get it up to speed. I think I will wait awhile before looking at this one. Besides, I am about 5 platforms behind.

Today, I set up an 'EHP-Friends' account over at Parler (it's a 'Twitter' alternative. I'm still not thrilled with GAB and this Parler site was so easy to set up. I figure redundancy is better than nothing. I've set the acct up as private, in the settings, so it's 'invite only', before you can view posts. So, now there's another option for keeping in touch, if needed.

If you want to try this format to see if you like it any better than GAB, go to: https://parler.com and set up an account (you can make it as private as you want). Search for 'ehpfriends' and I will get a request to let you follow 'EHP Friends'.

Looks like Rick got onto Parler without any problems!

Yep, a lot easier to navigate then GAB.

I didn't have any luck with Parler, back in April, but plan to try again.
