The Sun Attacks

We have been threatened by a solar storm and now a solar cyclone. From what I understand China has launched another satellite...

Now hypothetically of course what is to stop China from popping off a EMP weapon from their new satellite when the earth is supposed to take a hit from the sun ??? They could kill the grid and we would never know what happened.....

Any thoughts ?????

Nuclear EMP and Solar EMP both have the same effect on "The Grid" but have markedly different local effects on electronics.

If you have a battery powered radio, with an external antenna, a nuclear EMP, within 400 miles, would almost certainly fry it.

Pretty much every Ham operator with a 40 meter rig would be able to get up on back up power, the day after a Solar flare, but, unless they had something in a faraday container (or at least disconnected from all external wiring), they would be out of business for a while after a nuclear EMP.
