Flu shots 2019

Going to get my flu shot this week.. Rumor has it is going to be a nasty year..

How many on here get theirs or think its a waste of time ??

I did not get mine last year and of course I got the flu. I can't remember ever having the flu before. The aches all over were NOT good. 3 days of aches, fever and either sleeping on the sofa, bed or a chair turned into bronchitis, an inhaler & steroids. YES ... I'll be getting my shot THIS year!

Yes, I'm getting one. I've only been getting them for the last 5 years. It seems like it takes forever to recoop from an illness anymore, even the common cold.

I hear that Rick1 I caught a sinus thing last year and it took a month to get over it and then I had to gripe and whine until the Doc gave me a Z-Pak... I keep telling my wife that I am not going to age well Very Happy

I am surprised no one brings up side effects of the body's natural reaction to the flu shot. That is, as it rally's its defenses and builds immunity to (the particular strains of) the flu you got in the vaccine, it will give some of the symptoms of the flu. Those symptoms are elevated temp and histamine levels, hence some people think they "got the flu."

Rest assured, if the shot does that to you,
the real thing will do that 100 times over.

Yes this.

And I did get a flu shot this year. No side effects for me this time. In years past I have occasionally gotten the "run down" feeling.

It's also a pet peeve of mine when someone gets a stomach virus and gets nauseous or vomiting, and they say they have the flu. It's not the flu! They are not the same thing. Real influenza is very different.

For real.
In most years, only a small fraction of us
get the flu, and if they ever get it, they
will find out the difference.
