According to the local health commission, 170 people are still being treated in hospital, while 25 have been cured.

The outbreak has also spread to more cities including the capital Beijing, where two cases were recorded, and the southern city of Shenzhen, where there is so far one confirmed case.

Chang Kai, 55, succumbed to pneumonia caused by the coronavirus on February 14, Hubei said on social media. His father and mother reportedly died in the preceding days, while his sister also died on February 14.

According to Caixin Media on Monday (23), 19 elderly people have died in Wuhan Social Welfare Institute, which is only a few hundred meters away from the South China Seafood Market. Since December, one person has died of the new crown virus and 6 others have died. None of the elderly who died of lung infections had been screened for neocoronavirus.

The report also pointed out that many other deaths were registered as septic shock, acute myocardial infarction, sudden death, and arrhythmia, but there were not a few of them with fever symptoms. ---CONTINUED---
