https://www.mlive.com/public-interest/2020/03/michigan-gov-gretchen-whitmer-loosens-nursing-hospital-restrictions-in-preparation-for-coronavirus.html

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Tuesday, March 13, loosened restrictions on hospitals, doctors, nurses and other caretakers in preparation for possible spread of the coronavirus.

Whitmer’s executive order remains in effect through April 14. It allows hospitals to build temporary or mobile facilities to care for coronavirus patients, permits the Licensing and Regulatory Agency to temporarily register nurses who haven’t yet passed required testing for up to 28 days; allows medical and nursing license renewals prior to completion of existing education requirements, allows hours spent responding to coronavirus patients to be applied to educational requirements and allows non-nurses, such as social workers or volunteers, to feed and transport coronavirus patients. ---CONTINUED---

Last Week One Paramedic Was Infected. Now Over 150 Are in Quarantine.
https://news.yahoo.com/last-week-one-paramedic-infected-190941690.html

NEW YORK — It began last week when an Emergency Medical Services worker contracted the coronavirus from his girlfriend. Three days later, more than 20 of these workers, who form part of the New York City Fire Department, were in isolation for potential exposure to the virus, either through their colleagues, patients or off-duty contacts.

By Wednesday morning, three Fire Department employees had tested positive. Now, more than 150 members of the department are in quarantine, including dozens of EMS workers, according to union and department officials. ---CONTINUED---

As healthcare systems all over the world face rationing of medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) amid the COVID-19 pandemic, experts are offering recommendations to enable ethical allocation.

In an article today in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), an international group of experts on medical ethics and health policy give six recommendations to ensure that patients are treated equally and that individual physicians don't have to make the "terrible" decision about which patients receive life-sustaining treatment and which do not. ---CONTINUED---

NEW YORK - It's not just protective facemasks that are in short supply: health workers in U.S. hospitals are reporting dwindling stocks of drugs, catheters and other medical miscellany vital for caring for a surge in patients stricken by the coronavirus outbreak.

Marney Gruber, a doctor who works in emergency rooms around New York City, said a number of commonly used medications are in short supply, and at least one hospital had run out of central line kits, which are used to administer drugs to patients in intensive care. ---CONTINUED---

Race to build temporary hospitals nationwide as coronavirus spreads
https://www.foxnews.com/us/army-corps-engineers-temporary-hospitals-coronavirus

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is looking at 114 facilities in all 50 states to convert into potential temporary hospitals in an effort to increase the nation’s hospital capacity in preparation for an expected influx of hundreds of thousands of coronavirus patients.

"I would think that the 114 is going to keep going up by 20 or 30 every single day," said Lt. Gen. Todd Semonite, the commanding general of the Army Corps of Engineers. ---CONTINUED---

Across the country, health care professionals have mobilized to treat patients suffering from the novel coronavirus, and many are doing so without adequate supplies and equipment.

Now, some are sharing what it’s like inside their hospitals as they face an unprecedented crisis. Some are overwhelmed, they told CNN, and others are afraid. Their hearts break for their patients and their patients’ families.

Here’s what they have to say. ---CONTINUED---

Doctors urge patients with broken bones to avoid emergency rooms

BINGHAM FARMS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Before if you broke a bone, it was a given. You went to either the emergency room or your doctor’s office right away. The COVID-19 outbreak has changed that. Sometimes it is simply more dangerous to get treatment than to stay home.

“The emergency rooms are being completely overrun,” said Dr. James Bicos, Michigan Orthopaedic Surgeons. ---CONTINUNED---

Because of age, third of US doctors prone to worse COVID-19
http://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2020/03/because-age-third-us-doctors-prone-worse-covid-19

Nearly one in three licensed doctors in the United States is older than 60 years, an age-group particularly vulnerable to adverse outcomes from COVID-19, according to a study published today on the preprint server medRxiv. And New York and California, two hard-hit states, have the most older physicians.

"The physician workforce is not only at risk of losing time spent in clinical care due to these exposures, but at a personal risk from severe disease that requires hospitalization ... ---CONTINUED---

NYC's healthcare workers are at a greater risk of getting the novel coronavirus. They're also not getting tested.

Diana Torres, a registered nurse at Manhattan's Mount Sinai West hospital, knew she was being exposed to the novel coronavirus in her work treating patients.

She didn't realize she was working with someone who had a confirmed case of the COVID-19 virus until her assistant manager, Kious Kelly, 48, died from the disease last week. ---CONTINUED---

Every US Hospital Could Soon be Treating COVID, US Study Says

Every hospital in the United States may soon be treating coronavirus cases, the government's Health and Human Services agency says in a new report.

Right now, three out of four hospitals are treating confirmed or suspected cases and are dealing with such problems as shortages of equipment, not enough protective gear for doctors and nurses, and hospital workers who are burned out and worried about their own safety. ---CONTINUED---

I don't believe we'll ever know the true counts, governments, from the town's Mayor to the President know how to hide figures.

There's an old saying my grandfather use to say, "Liars figure, but figures don't lie."

Illinois health care business settles with a 10.3 million dollar settlement for those health care workers that were fired for not getting the covid vaccine 'cause of their religious beliefs.

Not only that, they get their jobs back too.

This just the beginning of bigger things to come, just my thoughts.
