The coronavirus is unquestionably a significant threat to the health and safety of people throughout the world. The infection’s worldwide death toll is more than 23,000 and counting, 1,163 in the United States and 60 here in Michigan.
There is a silver lining however, in the numbers of people who are recovering from COVID-19 — more than 122,000 at this writing. ---CONTINUED---

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said the odds of students returning to school this year are “very unlikely" during a Friday radio interview.
Whitmer set April 6 as the possible re-opening date when she closed all K-12 school buildings, but that was changed to April 14 when Whitmer issued an executive order requiring people to stay in their homes. The governor, during an interview on WWJ Newsradio, said classrooms should stay closed while the number of COVID-19 cases continues to surge in Michigan. ---CONTINUED---

Michigan ER Nurse: ‘It’s Going to Be Just like Italy’

A Michigan emergency room nurse on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic issued a dire warning and chilling update on the reality of the virus and the strain it is having on hospitals, begging people to stay home and warning that “it’s getting to the point now that it’s going to be just like Italy.”
Mary MacDonald, who works for the Ascension Health System, posted a viral update on Instagram this week, detailing her experience after working at the Southfield location to assist with an influx of patients.
“I’ll have to admit, in being totally transparent, if you had asked me ten-plus days ago if I thought this was going to get as bad as it was, I would have told you no,” she said in the video: ---CONTINUED---

Dr. Teena Chopra has been an infectious disease specialist in Detroit for 15 years, and says the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic is “like nothing any of us have ever seen before.”
“It seems like the sky is falling,” said Chopra, who works for Detroit Medical Center. “It seems like I’m flying a plane and I’m learning how to build it while I’m flying it.”

I think we're moving up to #4 in that nation as cases surpass 12,000 +. The govenor was slow to act in the beginning. Much slower than Ohio.
Local law enforcement and officials are asking Downstaters (Detroiters) to not head north but people have vacation cabins and hunting camps up here. DNR has closed all state campgrounds. Some fishing hot spots have been shut as well.
