Silver Lessons Empty Silver Lessons

I need a primer in purchasing silver.

I've bought a few .999 troy ounce silver rounds. But I noticed that there are 'collectable' rounds. Does it really matter as long as they are .999?

Should I purchase coins rather than rounds?

Are there any other differences that I should be aware of?

I've purchased a lot of silver in the last 4 years, when it was selling at $15.00 a troy ounce or less.

1 oz of silver is different then 1 troy ounce of silver, 1 oz is lighter then 1 troy ounce.

I buy silver rounds, nothing special, 1 troy ounce is 1 troy ounce. If things go south, you're not going to gain anything from having collectible rounds.

Silver is high now and was even higher last month. I plan on buying more silver, but not at these prices, the price will drop, I hope.

Here's the reason I've been investing in silver, I'm old and getting older, I refuse to have my kids pay anywhere from 20% to 30% in inheritance tax on what I've earned and have already paid taxes on. They can take the silver and cash it in if they want.

Here's a couple of link on investing in silver/silver stock:

I have an online account with apmex.com and I buy 100 oz. at a time, it's cheaper that way. Here's a link for ya and one of the coins I buy:

As long as they are not "silver clad" or "silver plated," you got "good stuff."

Buying coins or "collectible" rounds generally costs extra, but they are both pure silver (unless they say, silver clad or plated). I did a quick check and the collectible ones started at 50 cents extra for each one and many were $2 or $3 higher.

Coins were $5 a coin higher, or more. The only advantage is some people may have more faith in them, so they would be easier to sell or trade.

So the only thing that matters is you may have paid a few dollars extra.
