Re: Convert a Sewing Machine
I see these type of machines a lot at the auctions and nobody seems to be interested in them. I think after reading this maybe I should pick up a couple of them..
Thanks for the heads up

Re: Convert a Sewing Machine
I have a treadle my Mom got at a yard sale, it needs a new belt and probably a tuneup. I should take it to a sewing machine repair place and get it taken care of.
My four electric machines are all tuned up and doing well.

I actually found a small battery operated machine, several years ago! It's small. It's at the bottom of a closet, so not too easy to pull out to tell you brand. It looks like a mini-machine. I figured good enough to put aside.

My wife and I bought our granddaughters battery operated sewing machines for X-mas last year..
It seemed the machines worked pretty good , but they cut up some of their clothes and tried to sew them back together...
Mom wasn't very happy

It's just down the road from ya ReadyMom, go ahead a buy it. Tell your hubby that we (members) all chipped in and bought it for ya for starting this new forum. OR, tell him you bought it for me and I'm coming down to pick it up next week. If I'm a no show, you get to keep it.
If he doesn't believe ya, well your on your own.

Actually I would be willing to chip in, for that reason, if you can find a way to do it without paypal.rick1 wrote:

On a similar note, I bought a manual typewriter and six (cloth) ribbons, a few years back, in case of grid down.

RM you might try and barter something with the owner to get the price down... We have a Red Eye and a Sphynx machine although the only difference that I can see is the bobbin. I must admit that I am really struggling with the hand, eye, foot coordination thing....
I think I will blame it on age lol
I will post some pics of ours when I get a chance
