“We anticipated this very scenario and have been preparing for Pennsylvanians to become impacted by this virus,” Governor Wolf said. “This is not the first rapidly-spreading virus we have faced in our commonwealth and it will not be the last. We are prepared to mitigate the spread of this virus.”

The one individual is an adult from Wayne County and is currently in their home in isolation. The individual recently traveled to a country where COVID-19 is present. ---CONTINUED---

Dear Central Bucks families,

Late last night, I was informed by Dr. David Damsker, Director of the Bucks County Health Department, and Dr. Sharon Watkins, State Epidemiologist of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, that members of the Central Bucks community were exposed to a confirmed case of the coronavirus that originated in another state. At this moment, we understand that these Central Bucks community members have had contact with Butler Elementary School, Titus Elementary School, Tamanend Middle School, Tohickon Middle School, and Central Bucks South High School. The Bucks County Health Department is currently evaluating these individuals to determine when they may return to school.

It is important to reiterate that there are no known or reported cases of coronavirus in Central Bucks School District, Bucks County or in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Out of an abundance of caution, I have decided to close the above schools Friday, March 6, 2020 to perform deep cleaning of all impacted facilities.

Throughout this evolving situation, I will remain in contact with both the Bucks County Health Department and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Additional updates to the community will be shared as we learn more information.

Coronavirus is transmitted like the common flu virus and can be easily eliminated with good cleaning and personal hygiene practices. Common symptoms for coronavirus include fever, cough and/or shortness of breath. Some tips from the website to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, such as coronavirus, include:

Cover coughs or sneezes with your elbow. Do not use your hands!
Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
If soap and water are not available, use a 60% or higher alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Clean surfaces frequently, including countertops, light switches, cell phones, electronic devices, remotes, and other frequently touched items.
Stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick to help prevent others from catching your illness. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Oke PA has REALLY pulled the trigger!!

PENNA just locked down Montgomery County, the epicenter for the PA outbreak. He has: shutdown of schools, daycares and businesses with the exception of government, grocery stores and gas stations!! For 14 days.

I had someone ‘in the know’ verify this. It means that if you work OUTSIDE the county, you can not go to work. If You come to the county to work … you are not allowed to get to work!

Hospitals are open.

I know he got the National Guard ready a couple of days ago, so I’m still trying to find out if he is using them to ‘man the borders’ of the county.

This is ALL SURREAL. Like a movie.

In our city paper today (The Johnstown Democrat) they  had an article about Giant Eagle employees have tested positive for coronavirus.

The locations of the stores are Altoona, North Huntingdon, New Kensington, Wexford, all in PA and a GetGo gas station in Ohio.

The person in Altoona, had been sick for several days before being tested, they estimate the employee came in contact with thousands of customers.

Well, I guess Altoona (Blair county) and surrounding areas will be infected big time now, that's only 30 miles east of me.

This was just added to Pennsylvania's list of coronavirus cases/deaths.

That is EXACTLY what I told our daughter, that lives about 15 min from us! I told her to put some groceries in a bag, in case she gets pulled over, on her way over here. Tell the cops she is delivering groceries to us! We're her life-line, because they have limited space in their condo. I've prepped for our whole family from way back when (figuring they would be HERE). But given the type of pandemic we're in ... kids are in their own homes for the duration.

Now our son, in Virginia is another story. VA just went into a state down lock-down till June 10!!!  We haven't seen him (live vs face-time) since early March. That's a LONG time, for this family!
