The article basically says that we have all been overestimating the value of the Sinpo class sub, and that it won't be as useful to LRM as anyone thinks it will be.
I am still concerned, however, that it will give LRM some false sense of power.

Work on his SINPO class submarine is still progressing, although it does look like it is a few months away from being ready to put out to sea.

On imagery from April 5, the service tower on the ejection test pad is pulled back from its static position. Its canister support arms are open, and below, a possible ejection canister appears to be cradled in the strongback lifting mechanism[1] used to elevate the canister to a variable, upright position. Two probable service vehicles and/or trailers are located next to the service tower and a small crane is located next to the strongback. Additionally, four unidentified objects are arrayed on the impact berm located off the west side of the pad, suggesting an ejection test may have just occurred. During ejection testing, dummy missiles are ejected, often at different trajectories, and create impact craters in the impact berm.

While the purpose of this test cannot be confirmed, it is likely for reliability testing. It cannot be determined whether testing has concluded, or whether additional ejections might be planned.

N.Korea is still a few months away from launching their newest SIMPO class submarine (capable of launching nuclear missiles). We don't know how many months, because they built a canopy over the construction site.

When it sails out of its harbor, I will upgrade my concerns.
And yes, I agree, he will wait until after the election.

SINPO shipyard, where N.K. is building its new submarine, the one that can launch nuclear missiles, was slightly damaged by a hurricane (typhoon) around the middle of this month.

As repairs are underway, so are our spy satellites.
We are gaining a little new Intel, but I don't know much about it yet.

Give it time. The NKs will show increasing assertiveness and boldness as the year progresses. I think they have been quiet because they probably had a tough winter and the virus. I would expect them to regain their provocative attitudes and test biden soon enough.

Especially if tension between us and china rise expect NK to act in china's interest.

You have to go back a ways to find the answer I provided on April 18 of 2019.

Before someone gets too concerned about it, N.K. did a test launch of a short ranged tactical missile. I haven't actually followed the latest launches (bigger *domestic* fish to fry) but I don't think we really care about his short range missiles.

As an update, I saw in the morning news that the "experts" can't decide whether the missiles were ballistic or cruise missiles. The flight paths of ballistic and cruise missiles resemble each other like the flight of a mortar round resembles the flight of a Cessna airplane.

This leaves only two possibilities that I can see.
One is that the national powers are lying about what happened, because they fear "offending" N. Korea by examining the truth.
The other is that there were multiple types of missiles, thus confusing the press releases.

Of course, it could be a combination of those possibilities.

I am still waiting for that KEMPO class submarine. Until then, they are not ready to throw down. When that day comes, things will get sideways rather fast.

It is becoming obvious to me that the N.Koreans are going to saber rattle from now until they are ready. It is also obvious to me that N.Korea leadership is being played, by the Chinese (as is a lot of ours). The Chinese are going to use the N.Koreans as the "dogs of war," sending them out to take on our forces. That way (after both, the N.Koreans and US forces fight it out for a couple months), when the Chinese make their move and begin taking Island after Island, we will be so weak that we won't be much of a threat.

They have been prepping the battlefield on our city streets and in our Universities for years.

Frankly I think it's perfectly in line with the objectives lately. It's just them screaming, Hey Look at ME! They are jealous that China is getting all the attention and that they are just as pretty as other countries. Cool

Yep, but, North Korea and China are working in tandem with each other knowing the U.S. and the UN won't/can't stop them, an don't count out Russia to help them.

This is just my take on these two countries. China is going to over run Taiwan and at the same time, North Korea will send some missiles into South Korea and/or Japan.

Then it'll be too late for an immediate response from the UN/U.S..

I notice they launched it from the Simpo yard area, but I haven't seen any sign of the Sinpo class Submarine, itself. Someone pointed out, it is a variant of the Romeo class sub. Very noisy (by today's standards), so we should know, as soon as it drives out of the yard.

I think the propaganda, this time, might be aimed at his own "Party Congress," which should have a major annual session soon.

If you read between the lines, a lot of their national security people would not be happy with the direction Kim took, last year: focusing on the economy and prioritizing a move towards capitalism.

OTOH, I brought up, on the China thread, the SINPO (sometimes misspelled Simpo) Submarine is finished with the building phase and is not pre-operational. I don't have information on how many shakedown runs they have made or will make with it, but I expect it to be fully operational next summer. (Of course, I could be giving them too much credit.)
