I think this is more fear mongering then anything else. Just like if the U.S./EU put missiles in Ukraine, I guess Putin doesn't believe missiles are already nearby, Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea and under water.

An article on DEFCON website (that may originally from Wash.Post) says, basically, that Putin wants us to end all US and Nato operations in former soviet block countries. Maybe someone should get some stones and tell him that we will consider his request as soon as all Marxist operations in the Western Hemisphere have ceased.
Hmmm, I think someone put some hallucinogenics in my coffee...

Brace yourselves, the ride could get bumpy. The U.S. cyber defense agency issued a broad national warning Friday night that Russia's potential invasion of Ukraine could spill into hacks against American computer networks.
The advisory issued by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency said it was not responding to any specific threats, but acting as a general precaution that conflict with Russia could lead to cyberattacks.
While there are not currently any credible threats to the U.S. homeland, we are mindful of the potential for Russia to consider escalating its actions in ways that could affect others outside of Ukraine, it reads.
It warned that every organization in the United States is at risk from cyber threats that can disrupt essential services and potentially cause harm to public safety, because of the broad vulnerability of many U.S. computer networks to hackers.

If you look closely at the photos (and read the captions before you look at the photos), it appears Putin is moving some forces further away, and some closer in. It is simply an attempt to confuse the situation.
Keep standing by, to stand by, some more.

Drinkthekoolaid wrote:This is a fairly bold statement
https://www.yahoo.com/news/russia-says-may-forced-respond-184439508.html
"In the absence of the readiness of the American side to agree on firm, legally binding guarantees of ensuring our security by the United States and its allies, Russia will be forced to respond, including through the implementation of military-technical measures," the Kremlin said on Thursday in an 11-page response to written proposals submitted by the US in late January on Moscow's security demands.
The US and NATO have firmly rejected Russia's demand that Ukraine be forever banned from the alliance, stating that countries should be free to choose their own allies and defensive partnerships. Though Ukraine has sought to join NATO for years, it's not on the formal track to become a member at any point in the near future. But with an estimated 150,000 troops surrounding Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin has demanded that the issue be resolved now.
I am not sure what Ukraine would want with a washed up alliance, like NATO, but I think Russia is just using this as a pretext, to give them a legitimate reason to attack.
Noted in the article, they say "military-technical" measures.
I suspect this means cyber warfare.

Each side has, now, laid the "groundwork propaganda," for blaming the other, if the invasion proceeds....showdown at the United Nations in New York.
Vershinin, who chaired the meeting by virtue of Russia holding the Security Council presidency, knew what was coming.
'Colleagues, I would like to finally ask that you resist the temptation to play to the cameras and will not make this meeting of ours into a circus and will not present here baseless accusations saying that Russia allegedly was going to attack Ukraine,' he said.
Blinken, who pushed back plans to travel to Europe in order to attend, was next to speak. He bumped fists with Britain's Minister for Europe James Cleverly as he sat down, in a sign of the close alliance the high stakes.
Blinken said Russia was preparing for an invasion 'in the coming days.'
It would start with creating an excuse to attack.
'We don't know exactly the formal take,' he said.
'It could be a fabricated so-called terrorist bombing inside Russia, the invented discovery of the mass grave, a staged drone strike against civilians, or a fake - even a real - attack using chemical weapons.'

Putin just may leave his troops there, back a couple of thousands of them out, then put them back in.
He may not do anything, is Uncle Vladimir playing a physiological game with NATO and actually winning the game?

Ukraine doesn't have any artillery close enough to that location to land a shell there.Russia's FSB security service said two shells landed on Russian territory near the border, Russia's Tass news agency reported. One hit a building in Rostov region but no one was hurt, it said.
But the Russians are counting on the rest of the world not knowing that.

We'll know very soon.
Watch for cyber attacks to precede a physical invasion.
Then, it's on to see if the US and/NATO do anything then if Russia responds and we got caught in an escalation loop.

I am not sure that statement is in final form, or may be "adjusted" in the future.Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and Poland have launched a new trilateral format of cooperation aimed at responding to threats to European security and strengthening economic cooperation between the countries.
"Today we are honored and pleased to announce the launch of a new trilateral format of cooperation between Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and Poland," Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said at a joint press conference with Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom Liz Truss in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
...
A joint statement by the three top diplomats would soon appear on the official websites of the countries’ foreign ministries, Kuleba added.
"In particular, it states that Great Britain and Poland will stand side by side with the Ukrainian people in their efforts to protect Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. Poland and Great Britain will help us defend our state," the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said.
Remember, Poland and Britain are NATO, so this, indirectly, drags us into the fight.

More then just cash, if they hit the grid, you'll need everything, water, sewage, food, gas, guns, ammo, heat, etc.. Times will get real tough.
Of course cash won't do ya any good, as everything will be closed.
It'll be like a bivouac in the old USMC.

Think of this. Putin is using the money that the U.S. and the E.U. pay him for gas and oil to build his military to invade the Ukraine, we then send our military equipment and aid to the Ukraine to fight the Russians.
Seems to me our tax dollars are fighting each other, now that tells me that we are the stupid ones.

Re: Russian Concerns
They are 6 hours ahead of me, and the war kicked off at (I think) 2AM, Kyev time. As I write this, 33h 46min has passed, and there is fighting in the Kyev area, and, now, I expect it to fall before the 48 hour mark.
There are several things we could have done to prevent this, but that subject is no longer relevant.
The war has begun.
Now, what do we, as preppers do?
Same things we always did.
With a little more intensity, perhaps?
